Towards Understanding the Structure of Subcritical and Transcritical Liquid–Gas Interfaces Using a Tabulated Real Fluid Modeling Approach

A fundamental understanding and simulation of fuel atomization, phase transition, mixing are among the topics researchers have struggled with for decades. One reasons this is that accurate, robust, efficient jets remains a challenge. In paper, tabulated multi-component real-fluid model (RFM) proposed to overcome most limitations make simulations affordable. Essentially, fully compressible two-phase flow diffuse interface approach used RFM model, which were implemented in CONVERGE solver. PISO SIMPLE numerical schemes modified account highly coupled tabulation approach. These new applied different 1-D, 2-D, 3-D test cases better understand structure subcritical transcritical liquid–gas interfaces reveal hydro-thermodynamic characteristics multicomponent jet mixing. The classical cryogenic injection liquid nitrogen coaxially hot hydrogen performed using thermodynamic tables generated by two equations state: Peng–Robinson (PR) Soave–Redlich–Kwong (SRK). results finally compared available experimental data published studies satisfactory agreement.
